Coping with Circumstances

Stressed?
Amidst the Covid19 situation

Observing "OCD"-ly

A high "C" looking at this photo below would probably complain firstly of the shape and layout of the photo - it's rectangular and the contents are not placed proportionately.
Then a closer examination, if at all the high "C" decides to continue looking at this potentially offensive picture, the person would notice that the binding combs are just a little "out" Yes a confession would be extracted from the perpetrator - some combs are bigger than others!

Positioning

There are many apps which allow image editing.

They enable the user to turn a casual, common image into something personal, into something meaningful.

However, when someone takes half an hour just to position to words "Birthday Blessings!!" in the right place for this image, you know the person is both particular and much into detail.

I kid you not. Half an hour.....

Uniquely You

I just love doing training and facilitating the DiSC! It's my aim to make learning fun, and having fun activities a great way to illustrate a point.

Like this for instance. I had a small group for a change. I did my usual introduction and led them to an activity.

I was fascinated to see how this turned out. Four totally different types of paperwork.

And that is why I had entitled my short talk "Uniquely You" also known as "Who do you think you are?"

Willing to Goof Around

In public of course.

It doesn't matter who is watching.

When the mood hits, anything goes.
Just to have fun.

A Certain Humour

People who do lots of work
make lots of mistakes

People who do less work
make less mistakes

People who do no work
make no mistakes

People who make no mistakes
get promoted

So why are we working so HARD? Let's party!

Creativity

It takes a certain kind of personality to think out of a box.

It takes a certain kind of personality to not be thwarted by obstacles.

Sent on a errand to get a special drink, a D-C friend was not perturbed when told that there this drink was not available.

He improvised very nicely. See here

Three Times Too Many

This is a post to laugh at myself.

I decided to be more adventurous with my choice of lipstick. I felt that it was time that the colours and type I use ought to vary a little.

There was a sale. So I shopped for lipstick. Tested the different ones on the back of my hand, I chose one. Went home to try it on properly and preen in the mirror.
That's when I found I had the same one already on the dressing table.

That was episode number one.

Episode number two was when I was waiting . Just killing time you know. Again, a sale was being held. Deciding that I would definitely go for something different, I marched boldly to the lipstick sections. This time I took twice as long to test and confirm the one I wanted.

When I got home, I decided to check the ones I have in comparison. After all, I was going to be more daring!

To my utter disguest with myself, I found an EXACT one already taking its place. Hardly used. Humph!

You can't imagine it getting worse, right? Sigh... If only I was making this up....

Episode three was just two days ago. This time, the shop was different. The sale was big. The time was at night. Again, I was waiting for someone. I took three times as long. I tested every single lipstick on the shelf. Read it again - EVERY SINGLE ONE. Even those that I KNEW would be simply yucky. The back of my hand was a sticky mess by the time I was done.

And yet.

My selection was... dare I post this....

My selection was IDENTICAL to the one I had in my purse and was already using!!!!

Bury head in hands and groan.....

Being Chinese!

As in most major cities in the world, there are places where the Chinese flock to. Called Chinatown usually, the metropolitan cities host places where good food reminiscent of "home" can be found.

London is no exception.

Chinatown there was frequented by us when we wanted rice by the sack and certain Chinese provision, often in tins.

On our recent visit to London we paid a visit there.

In particular we looked for one shop. Famous for its cheap, good food, it was equally renown for its rude waiters who would shoo you out and/or slam the bill as you gulped down the last bit of Chinese tea.
To our amazement, the cost of a meal there had not increased in the twenty years we had left.
It made us wonder about this Chinese entrepreneur. They go for volume. There are even seats for people who are alone and want a quick meal.
This is being Chinese, no particular personality. This is the culture!

Colourful Characters

No, I did not doctor this photo.

No, they are not stuffed toys.

Yes they are real.

Yes they are multicoloured chicks.
Part of an experiment in a local education institute. They are none the worse for it.

Imagine human beings being painted like that to express their different personalities.....!

Showering Naked

Reading an article in the e-news prompted me to make a post about allergies in one of my other blogspot.

That in turn, reminded me of an incident which happened during my time in England.

Hubby and I had good friends with whom we played badminton.

Such good friends we were too.

From the first time we played, we had a great time as we were fairly evenly matched.

On that occasion however, we had a unique experience which cemented our friendship.

After playing for a couple of hours, we headed for the showers.

There, as we made idle chat, the other lady and I got ready for the showers. Not having been to that place before, I didn't know what to expect. So I followed her cue, discretely taking off the sweat-ladened clothes and wrapping a towel around me before going around the corner.

Can you imagine my shock when I rounded the corner to see a communal shower area? Not only were there no doors to close, there were no walls to separate the different shower heads!

Now, if you were a high "S", you'd probably stop in horror and back out totally, murmuring some excuse about forgetting the soap (that was in your hand) or change of clothes (which was more plausible). You would not want to hurt your friend, but at the same time, might feel very hurt yourself.

If you were a high "C", you'd probably get so upset by this unexpected turn that you would never ever consider her a friend anymore. You might stomp off, upset that this so-called friend didn't think more considerately and plan better. And you would definitely never return to that place again!

As a high "D" however, you would just go ahead with it, without batting an eyelid. Whilst other ladies would shower with their eyes cast down, you might even chat and try to make eye contact as you do so! After all, isn't everyone essentially the same?

What about an "I"? Well, this person would also not bat an eyelid. Even more so than a "D", the high "I" would talk - nervously. With an innate desire to please, to want to be accepted, to be seen as OK, the high "I" will also be extrovert enough to carry on showering.

All showers should be done in the buff... unless you are referring to April showers outside! How would you have behaved?

(If you want to know how I behaved, comments HERE please - don't email me)

Teachers & Toothpastes!

Received this in the email recently and couldn't resist posting it. It's from my former teacher.
This is what I said about her.

Toothpaste episode can be found here.

Over a Tin Can

Imagine someone engaging in a competition with another old enough to be the offspring. Not unusual. It happens daily in different forms.

Imagine having the competition over postings on the internet. Again, these things happen. Online games, online competition, yes, they happen.

Imagine the competition beginnings being totally unrelated to the ending. Yet again, it has to be said, this is not a rare occurrence. Situations evolve and circumstances change.

Imagine the competition being over a tin of soda. Pretty petty, but there have been weirder prizes.

Imagine this competition being a duel between not only two people of differing generations but separated by an 8 hour drive. In this day of the internet, not such an uncommon thing. Especially where Facebook is concerned.
Put them ALL TOGETHER however, you get a scenario where the loser has to somehow get a tin of soda to the winner.

The loser in this case is, of course, the younger generation. There was no way the older generation would enter the competition with a loss expected!

In this case, the older generation is behaving with "D" tendencies - win at all costs.

Yes, I was that older generation winner...... you'd think I'd behave my age!

Inter-Office Communication

Note: There is a virus going around and we might not even know about it! News reports tell us that this bug has infected 9 million PCs (personal computers), leaving victims open to digital hijacking! Yes, it's Microsoft again.

Communication is essential.

Good communication is the absolute that one aspires for.

Good communication can be defined as the correct transmitting information in a manner that the information can be received and duly acted upon correctly.

Which leaves me wondering how to define this....
Laugher is good medicine.

When Choosing a Gift

When you are choosing a present for someone, do you get something you like or do you get something you think they would like?

Many people do the former without realising it.

I once knew of a male relative who wanted to do the latter. As men go, he was typical of many in that he didn't LIKE to shop. However, since it was his beloved sister he was buying for, he wanted to give her something that she liked.

Personality-wise, he was just the opposite of her. He was a serious, no-nonsense chap. She brought light and laughter to him by her antics and ways. Despite their personalities, they dearly cared for each other.

That day, when he finally came back from the shops, it was obvious that he had put some thought into it, and it was definitely something she would like. No, she would love!
When asked how he made his choice, he simply replied, "Whatever I hated, she would love."

And so it was, she loved it.

And he used his understanding and acceptance of different personalities with good effect!

(No, it wasn't this gift, but doesn't this make some of you go "So cuuute" and others of you go "What a waste of money"?)

Addiction!

What is it about this red slimey and sticky stuff?

It gets spread on all sorts of food.
Some even make designs as they spread it out.
No matter what the dish.
They must have .....

tomato sauce!
(I am, of course, referring to the youths I know. In particular one in my household, and lots of the friends that come by - read "Andy Andy Andy")
